Silver Axe Award

PURPOSE:

To encourage and recognize members of the Gilwell Society for volunteering and participating in promoting and conducting volunteer training programs in the North Florida Council.

METHOD:

Any member who completes the following requirements and submits a completed copy of the application shall be awarded a specially-designed Gilwell Certificate and Ribbon (a Silver Axe on a Gilwell plaid background. To be worn on the right sleeve immediately above the Gilwell membership patch). Awards will be presented at the Society’s annual spring Back-to-Gilwell meeting and the Fall Annual Meeting. Completed applications are to be sent to the Chairman of the Gilwell Society.

REQUIREMENTS:

A recipient must have completed at least three years service as a member of the Gilwell Society by attending at least two Gilwell events each year (Annual meeting / Back-to-Gilwell event, Gilwell Wood Badge Promotion Dinner / Gilwell Training Weekend) and earn at least 350 points by completing any combination of the following during the past three years: (note exception) 

1.   Serve on a Wood Badge course staff (only twice) 30 points (no time limit)
2.   Serve as a Wood Badge course director (only once) 50 points (no time limit)
3.   Serve on staff of a Council-wide training event (excluding Wood Badge service) 30 points each time(no time limit)
Examples of this service: University of Scouting, Trainer’s Edge, National Youth Leadership Training, etc.
4.   Serve as the leader of a Council-wide training event (excluding Wood Badge) 50 points each time (no time limit)
Examples of this service: University of Scouting, Trainer’s Edge, National Youth Leadership Training, etc.
5.   Serve on the staff of a District training event 30 points each time
6.   Serve as the leader of a District training event 50 points each time
7.   Serve as a program leader at a District Roundtable 25 points (Max. twice per year)
8.   Serve as a Roundtable Commissioner 50 points per year (Max.3 years)
9.   Serve on the Gilwell Society leadership team 30 points per year (Max. 3 years)
The following positions: Chair, Vice Chair, Membership Chair, Finance Chair, Program Chair, Awards & Recognitions Chair.
10  Serve on a Gilwell Society committee 25 points per year
Service on any temporary committee for any Gilwell event
11. Serve as a presenter at a Gilwell meeting 25 points each time
Service as a formal subject presenter at any Gilwell Event
12. Serve on the staff of a Gilwell meeting 25 points each time
Service as staff fulfilling any of the following functions; registration, promotion, food service, etc. at any Gilwell event.
